My company has been approached by law firms here in Tucson to show them a
presentation of technology now available to allow them to use multimedia in
their practices.
Our background is in developing programs using state of the art computer
technology. We have a sound knowledge in the use of the technology in
training programs for the US military, commercial aviation and medical
education. We don't know the law or what types of technology are currently
being used in the practice of law.
I am soliciting comments from anyone who:
1. -has used multimedia in presentation of evidence in a courtroom,
settlement negotiations, board of directors support etc.
2. -desires to know more about the capabilities of modern computer
technology to support them in their practice.
3. -would like to comment about the use of this type of technology in the
practice of law.
4. -would like to comment about the legal permissibility of the use of
technology in presentation of evidence, simulation, etc.
5. -would like to coment about the acceptability of the use of technology
in the practice of law.
We can do the following things with computer technology:
In the courtroom:
Present Evidence
Graphics -Pictures, Maps, Charts, Diagrams
Photography
Video - Edited or Unedited
Audio - Edited or Unedited
Animation
Text
Provide Video Simulation through animation
Create digital databases of evidence, testimony, related cases
Present supporting materials for opening and closing arguments
All of the same types of media and applications could have use in
negotiations and settlements.
I would appreciate any input you might have.
Thanks, Benny
