National Library Week promotion

Hello Denise and Angus (and anyone else who saw their posting and
wondered about it):

I believe you are reasoning from a mistaken premise.

1) AALL itself does not have a theme for National Library Week. The
American Library Association's theme for this year, same as it was last year,
is "Libraries Change Lives." AALL produced buttons and bookmarks which
borrowed this idea and adapted it for our members' use: "Law Libraries
Change Lives."

2) AALL also produced highlighter pens which bear the motto, "Law
Librarians make your work STAND OUT," and letter openers with the
motto, "For an open and shut case -- see a Law Librarian." Plus we still
had a few tip cards left, with the slogan, "The Best Tip -- Call Your Law
Librarian."

Which leads us to:

3) Where did you get the idea that "AALL's theme" was "Law Librarians Make
a Difference" -- ? As AALL's Manager of Publications and Public Relations,
I am concerned that there may be wildcat theme-formulators running around,
so please let me know where you heard this. Thanks.

Here's the orginal message from Denise and Angus:

Are there any other people or libraries concerned with AALL's theme for
this year's National Library Week, "Law Librarians Make a Difference"?
Why exclude the paraprofessionals' contributions to their law libraries?
AALL should strive to be inclusive rather than exclusive in their
celebration of National Library Week. Perhaps a better theme would have
been "Law Libraries Make a Difference."
