In the past few weeks, there have been messages on LAW-LIB and LAWLIBREF-L
about federal and state bulletin board systems (BBSs) and PACER (a court
docket system?). As there hasn't been much on the lists in the past about
BBSs (except a little discussion re FedWorld I believe) and they seem to be
useful sources for accessing the full text of federal and state court
decisions, could someone post or provide instructions for accessing a list of
federal and state BBSs with phone numbers for dialing in, descriptions of the
types of law-related materials you would find on a BBS, and costs involved?
References to useful articles or books to read would be helpful to us also, I
think.
Are they better than electronic mailing lists/listservs, Gopher and Web
servers, Free-nets, etc. and if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any info!
Lyo.
