Update on Internet list(s) of rare and OP book dealers

On April 7, 1994, I posted this message to LAW-LIB:

> Does anyone know of any Internet list(s) for
> dealers in rare or out-of-print books to which
> prospective buyers can post inquiries about the
> availability of specific titles?

Although no one has responded with the names of any specific
lists yet, several people have expressed much interest in this
information and have requested that I summarize for the list the
responses I receive. I'll do that as I find out anything new.

For now, I have this information that might prove useful:

     (1) June Hsiao Liebert, a graduate student at Indiana
University SLIS, sent a message identifying a couple of
Internet sources that might provide further leads. For
those who missed her posting, I have appended it to
          this one.

     (2) The classified section ("Book Exchange") of The New
York Times Book Review has classifications for dealers
and locators of rare and OP books. As of last week,
only one entry included an Internet address: an out-
of-print search service by Fran Palminteri, of Middle
Village, NY, who lists 4164812@MCIMAIL.COM. I do not
know this person or anything about the quality of the
service offered. I offer this information only for the
benefit of those who might want to speed their rare and
OP book searches through an Internet contact. Maybe
other dealers will start listing Internet addresses,
          too.

     (3) Eric Braun's THE INTERNET DIRECTORY includes a list
called Antiquaria, described as a list for "rare book
dealers to exchange information and books and searches
for specific books." The directory identifies Joshua
Capy (JOSHUAC2@AOL.COM) as the list owner.

Thanks to all who have responded so far.
