I got one of those lists, addressed to "Reference Librarian".
I phoned the National Journal to complain that this was sleazy. The
salescreature I was referred to tried to tell me that oh, this was purely a
"marketing device", not intended to deceive anybody. No apologies.
If the National Journal doesn't think this was deceptive, what will they
try next? A targeted mailing, this time with each post-it signed with the
first name of a partner/dean at the customer's institution?
