If you received your registration materials for the AALL Annual
Meeting and Summer Institutes just recently and are concerned
that you will not meet the deadline to register for the Institute
on Leadership and Management Skills or that the Institute is
full, relax. Because registration materials were late getting
out, space is available, and I am happy to tell you that
registrations will be taken after April 30. So, talk with your
boss or whomever about your desire to attend. Then, send in your
registration as soon as possible.

Betty Kern, Don Dunn, and I have planned what we believe will be
a rewarding experience for all who attend. Trainers from the
Association of Research Libraries (ARL) will present a
substantial portion of the Institute, having adapted their
successful middle management program to fit law libraries. You
may have heard of the great success of the Institute on Senior
Library Management held in 1991. That Institute was adapted from
a similar ARL offering and was so successful that its
participants held a follow-up program last year in San Francisco.
They plan to do the same this year in Boston.

The registration fee may seem a bit high at first, but the fee
covers all meals, from the clambake on Monday evening, July 5,
through the lunch on Friday, July 9. Also, the accommodations
offered in the dormitories of Western New England College will be
inexpensive ($25 per night for single occupancy; $35 per night
for double). So, the total cost for attending the Institute will
be very reasonable. And, you can stay over Friday night if you
want, to avoid the much higher Boston hotel rates.

If you have any questions about the program, please let me or
Betty Kern know. Don Dunn can answer questions about the local
arrangements.
