Thanks to the many individuals who responded some time back to my question
regarding "teachable moments". The responses were edited into my column ("Our
Question - Your Answer") which appears in Perspectives: Teaching Legal
Research & Writing (the April 1993 issue). If you don't receive this journal
but would like to subscribe (it's freely distributed by West Pub.), contact
Michelle McClaine, 612/687-5630.
The question to be explored in the next issue is as follows:
Bob Berring says that "it is easier to instruct second- and third-year
students because they have context and vocabulary." How can you successfully
teach legal research to first-year students in spite of these knowledge
deficiencies?
I look forward to your responses, by e-mail, phone, snailmail, or a personal
visit it Carbondale (it's lovely in the Springtime).
