At St. Mary's Univ. there is a CD-ROM lan available via campus and modem for
off campus use. We have ABI-INFORM, Psych-Lit., Periodicals abstract, Gvt.
documents index, Nat. Trade Databank, Eric, Books in Print, & an engineering
index. Lexis/Nexis is available via the internet in the Academic library
besides the Law library (separate contract). We have kept the paper equivalents except for two low use indexes. Without the use of a Lan it would be necessary
to provide more than one copy. I saw West's demonstration with their new CD-ROM
for Texas cases which looked good for smaller firms or as an additional source
besides Westlaw. The lan has proved to be very successful, allowing
access by several students at one time both on campus and off campus.
