Simon Chester, an attorney in Toronto wrote an article called
"Electronic Malpractice: Does reasonable competence require
computer research?" in 17 Law Practice Management 23 (Nov/Dec 91)
He gives annecdotal evidence of manual legal research problems
that led to findings of malpractice, my personal favorite:
"Vancouver, Canada: An appeal is lost because a lawyer failed
to find an unreported judgment. JUDGE SUGGESTED LAWYER NEGLIGENT"
id at 24, emphasis in original.
