EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) is seeking an
Executive Director. AALL, with 5,000 members, annual expenditures of
$2.8 million, and headquarters in Chicago, is a dynamic, growing
professional association. Academic, corporate, governmental, law firm,
and other law libraries are represented in the membership.
Major responsibilities of the Executive Director include: (1)
planning, organization, and implementation of Association programs; (2)
representing AALL to significant law and library-related organizations,
and to the general public; and (3) management of the Association office and
employees. The Executive Director functions under the authorization and
guidance of the Executive Board of AALL.
Basic qualifications: At least five years of increasingly significant
management experience with major responsibilities such as fiscal, long
range planning, verbal and written communications with diverse
constituencies, and hands-on supervision. Expected: an ALA-accredited
MLS, but other appropriate professional preparation will be considered.
Sensivity to emerging trends that affect the Association and its members.
Highly desirable: library and/or association or other membership
organization experience. Law library experience advantageous. Other
useful experience: marketing, public relations, fund raising, continuing
education programing, convention planning and execution, publishing, and
office automation.
Competitive salary, negotiable from $75,000. AALL is an equal
