Update: Defective West Reporters

Hi Folks -

A while back I posted a note about some defective bound West reporters we had
received. The problem was cracked hinges, particularly noticeable if you
look around the title page or t.p. verso. At that time it was only one
volume each of Federal 2d and Federal Supplement.

To date we have returned 28 volumes from the following titles, all
with the same cracked hinge problem:

Federal Reporter 2d v. 974, 977, 978
Federal Supplement v. 798, 800, 801
Pacific 2d v. 835, 837
South Eastern 2d v. 421

West has been very good about replacing these volumes very promptly and at no
extra cost to us, even paying postage on the returns. However, of the 28
replacement volumes, I have to return five of them for exactly the same
problem, cracked hinges.

According to West, I am the only librarian who has contacted them concerning
this problem. Anybody else getting these or is it just my luck?
