Re: Lexis via Internet?

The professional reference staff at SMU have been accessing LEXIS from
their offices through the Internet. Our student terminals remain on telephone
lines, though Mead Data has asked if we would like to switch.

I am not convinced that we are ready for that. I have found that there
are periodic line problems that occur more often through the Internet than
by MeadNet, et.al. This results in incomplete screen display or, rarely, in
being cutoff and having to redial. The incomplete screen problem is "easy" to
fix, but I would expect that it might be very frustrating to students of
varying computer skill levels and who are always in a hurry. If you would
like further info, contact me at the phone number or e-mail below.
