I just received this from lis-enquiries. Even though the survey only
covers UK libraries it might be of some interest to law-lib subcribers.

EXPENDITURE ON LAW MATERIALS 1990/91

This is the fifth annual survey of law library expenditure by UK
universities and polytechnics. Results of the survey are published in the
April issue of Law Librarian*. Please could you spare a few minutes to
answer the following questions:
                                 * you are assured that anonymity will
                                   be maintained.

1. What is the number of law department staff in your institution?

2. What is the total number of students (fte and postgraduates)?
Is there additional supply teaching to other departments>

3. i) Total expenditure on law materials (monographs, standing orders,
law reports, journals) in 1990/91 (but excluding binding).
    ii) Expenditure on monographs?
iii) Expenditure on standing orders (ie. encyclopaedias, looseleaf
         works, etc.)?
iv) Expenditure on law reports and journals?

NB. We realise that in some institutions it may not be possible to
give a breakdown of expenditure exactly as indicated - but
              please give estimates where possible.

4. Expenditure on binding law materials?

5. Is there external funding to the library from the law department?

6. Does the law library receive any funding from outside bodies (ie. law
    firms, sponsorship, trust funds)?

7. Expenditure on Lexis 1990/91? Is this met by the law department or
    out of library funds?

8. Do you access to any other law databases? If so, please give details
    and expenditure involved.

9. Is a formula used for calculating the law budget? If so, please give
    details.

10. Any comments on library expenditure on law materials, generally.

I would be grateful for suggestions of further refinements to the
questionnaire for future years. If you have any queries please feel free
to contact me.

Thank you for your cooperation.
