The University of WIsconsin offers an array of faculty services, which
are typically found at other law school libraries, such as reference, routing
of
materials, interlibrary borrowing, free photocopying, extended loan periods,
computer assistance, audio-visual production and showing, etc. These area
described in our Faculty Guide hand-out, which I would be happy to send you.
But perhaps the most unusual and certaininly the most appreciated service we
provide is that of our Faculty Liaison.

The Faculty Liaison is a full-time paraprofessional position who is
responsible, inter alia, for obtaining requested documents from our library and
other libraries for our faculty. He spends much of his time running to other
campus libraries to check out books and photopopy articles for our faculty. Of
course, he is backed up by our professional librarians, who often assist him in
locating materials or in obtaining interlibrary loans. The services of the
Faculty Liaison are heavily used and much appreciated. He gets much much
positive feedback and so do we for his services. He has been acknowledged
along
with the librarians in a number of book prefaces. One down-side is that some-
times some of our librarians get irritated that the Faculty Liaison seems to
get
so much of the credit for their behind the scenes work.

Next to the Faculty Liaison, anther more recent service that seems to be
quite well received by our faculty is that of the Computer Services Manager.
This full-time professional position has responsibility (again among many other
things) for assisting faculty with their computer hardware and software needs.
While this commands a relatively small portion of his time (he also administers
our LAN, runs our labs, provides training to students and staff and assists
library staff with their computer needs), the faculty certainly appreciate his
help.

Good luck in developing your faculty services.
